My aunt is a retired elementary teacher and she has beautiful penmanship. She told me that back then she would know a pupil’s grade 2 teacher by the penmanship. It was in Grade 2 when students were taught cursive writing. I don’t know if there are still handwriting classes in grade school especially with the existence of mobile phones and computers. I am still lucky because I was able to enjoy the analog world. We used to write notes instead of texting. These are my friends notes for me in college. They left me written messages in my table in the dormitory when I am not around. Priceless!
It has been years since I have actually written a letter and gone to the post office to mail them so I welcomed Fozzy‘s invitation to write her a love letter.
Well, I poured my heart out like a giddy fan! It was written in my regular pensmanship on a card I made myself. I painted watercolor flowers.
I got my reply back and I also got another letter from a friend. Sweet!
I finally bought myself a calligraphy kit for beginners from The Craft Central.
I tried writing using the calligraphy oblique holder with NikkoG nib. I need more practice.
Have you mailed a handwritten letter lately?
i am trying some calligraphy also..pero fake calligraphy nga lag..wala pa kong gamit eh..hope in the future, makakuha din ako nyan
You can learn calligraphy from faking it, too. Try this: https://thepostmansknock.com/cheating-calligraphy-tutorial/
Oh your good! Nope! I haven’t mailed written note for a while now. I’m not good in writing cursive. A lot of people right nowadays are into calligraphy, I don’t blame them, this looks like a great hobby. I’m looking forward to more samples from you.

Congratulations on your win of the caligraphy set. Love your writing.
Oh, I did not win it. I bought it. 🙂
Ganda sis. You know what I bought Matthew water color na. He started to paint na and he’s enjoying it so much. I have yet to post his works. Nascorrupt kasi un memory card ng phone ko e.
I remember on our college days, Mommy and I were exchanging letters daily.
We kept on telling secrets to each other thru letters.
Oh, sweet!
I actually really really want to try calligraphy but it’s quite hard if you’re not really artistically inclined. I don’t do good drawing and my writing is bad. How can I fix this?
You can. Some of those calligraphers showed their real penmanship and it is far from the beautiful calligraphy. It is to constant practice that one gets better.
I love writing letters but I’m pretty bad at remembering to send them! Fail!
I do however love writing and drawing words and letters. Recently ive been on a big lettering kick. I think at some point i have to just bite the bullet and buy a proper calligraphy set. How are you finding yours?
I am still adjusting with the nibs. I am more comfortable using a brush but the outcome is not the same.
Ang galing! Ang ganda ng calligraphy na ginawa mo, I’d call it penmanship kasi di ako familiar sa calligraphy, but whatever it is, for me, it’s perfect! Keep it up! 🙂
Wow! Pwede bang ipa-mail ang love letter?hehe
Email mo sa akin ang love letter mo para sa minamahal mo (naks!). Subukan ko na isulat kamay at i-mail balik sa iyo at pirmahan mo. 😀
I admire you from keeping those notes! sarap balik balikan and your Aunt have really good penmanship just like yours. I think you did pretty good Sis. Love it!

Thanks, sis! Those are notes from my friends, not my aunt’s. 🙂
you’re so good! How i wish i can calligraph.. My lolo loves calligraphy and writing love letters to my lola.. Sweet haha
I love your penmanship. And I also love your handmade card, it’s so pretty!
Yes, I’m surprised to reply that, Yes, I was planning to pen a handwritten letter recently. to a friend who lives in Israel… I’m not sure how long it will take the letter to reach there, but I guess it will be fun mailing to him!
lovely handwriting! I wish I can write as prettily as you! indeed, with all the typing and texting on computers and mobile phones, my handwriting has gone from normal to almost illegible. 🙁
Wow.. Congrats !! I loved to learn calligraphy strokes and they look beautiful on the paper. Once i saw them in my son’s school and felt like learning it.
I still encourage my kids to make handmade cards or notes for all the occasions, aren’t they wonderful as a keepsake !!
What beautiful handwriting! We learned cursive in school but hardly write anymore
What a lovely post! I absolutely love writing, so much of my time is spent typing on the computer these days though. Need to pick up a pen and notepad again I think!x
Wow you still have their letters 🙂 How sweet! I miss the old days where me and friends leave sweet notes at school 🙂
Nice handwriting bytheway 🙂 Love it!
I still use my penmanship to write my prescriptions. I do not use a computer to do this yet. My patients compliment my handwriting that it does not look like a typical doctor’s scrawl. I guess that is because I came from a school where penmanship was graded.
I still use my cursive writing to write letters. Yes, I still write letters to my Uncle living in a province, they don’t have a cellphone because the mobile signal is weak, and the most practical way to communicate with him is through letters(though he receive it late). Sometimes, I forget to write it in a proper and legible way. My uncle will complain that my writing becomes a doctor penmanship, he called it a shitty writing.
Nice penmanship. Its been ages since I last wrote a letter, that was too my gf.. Today kasi, puro FB na lang to send messages.
I haven’t done a handwritten letter for a long time now. It’s really nice and more heartfelt to have letter handwritten though I just remembered I have a really bad hand writing.
I haven’t written any letter since ages, you have some talent and this letter looks beautiful.

I totally get what you said here! Even I’m from the Analog age and I have tons of those handwritten notes I’d get at the University. I mean it used to be fun when we would pass chits in classes to converse in class. Priceless indeed. 🙂

I love writing too.. and love your penmanship. I did have a good handwriting but now due to lack of writing its kind of little not that great. And I love the kit you got.
#giglove
I have actually, and it feels great 🙂 I think especially as although sending an email is much quicker there’s something about sending and receiving handwritten things hehe x

i really want to try calligraphy. they’re so beautiful and elegant
I remember way back in high school, I used to write legibly and yes, calligraphy is very helpful for our projects. Pagandahan ng sulat.
Oh I love handwritten letters. I always write a lot of hardwritten notes and tuck it into my hubby’s suitcase when he travels for work.

Writing is something to pour out! Which I feel that is a safe way to release. =) Love the watercolour paint card! =)

I’m pretty jealous of people w beautiful handwriting. I think it’s such a nice skill to have.. very artsy too
The last time I sent a handwritten letter was eons ago. Reading your post, I must admit that I suddenly missed writing notes. My friends and classmates used to do that back in high school and college. Like you, I’ve kept those notes and letters!
